First day, first post. To start, a little of my background would probably be best. I'm originally from a suburb of Detroit, a much bigger, faster city than East Lansing (something I definitely miss.) I came to Michigan State (Go Green!) right out of high school and my life turned upside down. I loved high school. I had great friends and enjoyed being around my family. When I came here though, it was time for me to break away from the people I had known all my life. I made a new group of friends (who would have become my new family and the reason leaving E.L. is going to be the hardest thing-ever!)
While at MSU I made it through almost the whole course catalog of majors. I started out political science/pre-law. I loved high school government so this is the perfect option, right? Nope, not for me. Then I remembered how much I loved accounting in high school as well. Tried that for a few years and found out that I am much more creative than balance sheets and constant numbers. So then I tried marketing and economics. None of these made me feel like I could make a career. Then I stumbled across advertising (my mom did always tell me I liked commercials better than the actual television show when I was little anyway, so this would be great!) but advertising is so much more than commercials. I finally found something I could do. Somewhere in this field was my future.
The next step was figuring out what I really want to do and where I want to do it. The location became much more simple a little over 2 years ago now. My first of now 2 nephews was born in February of 2008 and I knew that I would be moving closer to him in Chicago.

So that's where I'm at. Finding a job in advertising, in Chicago...not so easy when everyone I talk to would like to move there as well. (Not so easy also when I'm battling with myself over how I'm going to leave my old and new family...scary.)
